It’s too bad I didn’t start this a few years ago. I’ve had a few really interesting and fun travel experiences in the past few years. I will share them even though it’s late.
To give a quick background, Shelley, (whom you will see a lot of) and I have been friends since the 4th grade…She is one of my best friends, sister and the ultimate best travel buddy in the whole universe. (I’m not exaggerating). Before I even get started, I already know that about 80% of what I share will be funny, quirky stories of Shelley. We are the most opposite one could ever image, Yin and Yang, Black and White, Felix and Oscar… You will soon learn what I am talking about. As you notice in this picture, she likes sneaker, I travel in heels, I love my red wine and Shelley enjoys her green tea, she travels with a packback full of gifts to give away and I have 2 overweight suitcases full of heels, purses, make up and 2-3 outfits per day.
The sad news is we are both single and have yet to meet our Prince Charming…The GOOD NEWS is we are still both single and have the freedom to roam around the world looking for good food and new adventures… maybe even the man or our dreams will appear on one of our travel journeys!
In 2008, I started tagging along with her on her world-wide journeys. I had never been much of a traveler and just dreamt about it. Now 5 years and 6 journeys later, I have quite a bit to post. Join me for some fun, food, laughter and adventure through my eyes and words.
In 2010, we decided on venturing off to Costa Rica, our third trip since 2008. We had been to Spain and Ireland, which I will share later, but for whatever reason, I feel like starting with Costa Rica. My posts, I warn you will not in the exact order but here are some highlights.
First off White Water Rafting was my absolute highlight of this trip for me.
I was really excited for my first White Water Rafting experience and expected a pretty mild ride as they said this was for all ages and a moderate level of White Water Rafting. We all got suited up and were given the introduction of dos and dont’s. The guide was so intense and serious, I started getting nervous. However both Shelley and I couldn’t help but be impressed with the guide giving us the instructions, dreadlocks and all, ( I had a secret crush on him already) We both said out loud “I want HIM to be our guide. I hope I’m in HIS group. Lucky us! We ended up with him. Can’t remember his name but he was awesome and I felt safe with him as he really seemed to know what he was doing.
Now I had to post sooooooo many pictures because what I want you to do is check out Shelley’s silly facial expressions in all these pictures. I literally look stressed and constipated in all of them but Shelley is having the time of her life!
Finally… there’s calm water where we can actually get off the raft and float down the river… simply aweome!
Now it’s time for a break and we all get off and the rafts are flipped upside down to create a cutting board for fresh Pineapple chopped up by none other than our heroic guides! All so young and fit!
We end the trip by taking a short drive to a small local restaurant for some of the best Costa Rican home-cooked meal!
And… of course I had to take a last shot with my new crush…
